Art that gives
Eternal Peace

Born and based in Pune, Deepti J. Shah is an independent contemporary fine artist. She became hearing impaired following a childhood illness at approximately eight months of age. Drawing and painting were part of her early life, developing into a personal visual language.

Her work brings together realism and abstraction, exploring human expressions, floral subjects and flowing compositions through colour and texture.

In 2010, Deepti received a SPIC MACAY scholarship. Her training under Guru Tanul Vikamshi in Nagpur became part of her artistic journey. The scholarship is supported by a contemporaneous newspaper record.

ARTISTIC JOURNEY

A formative mentorship.

Encouraged by her family from an early age, Deepti developed a personal connection with drawing and painting. Her 2010 SPIC MACAY scholarship led to training under Guru Tanul Vikamshi in Nagpur, deepening her exploration of form, colour and emotional storytelling.

The accompanying photograph is part of Deepti’s published account of that learning journey.

PHILOSOPHY OF ART

Expression beyond sound and language.

Deepti’s published philosophy connects women’s inner lives, nature and silence. Acrylic colour, texture and layered surfaces give form to calm, resilience and hope. Faces, flowers and flowing lines bring realism and abstract expression together.

Draft Artist Statement · For Artist Review

Colour, observation and connection.

Colour offers a language beyond spoken words. In this practice, human expression, floral forms and the movement of line provide starting points for paintings that move between realism and abstraction. Texture and layering allow an image to develop gradually, as colours meet, separate and return across the surface. Silence creates room for observation: a face, a gesture or a familiar shape can hold attention without needing an explanation. The paintings invite viewers to pause and notice their own responses. Rather than fixing one meaning, this approach leaves space for different experiences and emotional connections. Each work becomes a meeting between the artist’s way of looking and the viewer’s own memories, associations and sense of the world.
